EU has frozen the assets from the corruption in Ukraine

March 7, 2014

European Union has frozen the assets of 18 persons responsible for an illegal appropriation of Ukrainian national property. Amongst them are the dethroned President Viktor Janukovič and former ministers.

The property encompasses cash, checks, bank deposits, shares etc., and freezing of the assets implies that it cannot be approached, transferred or sold. Movable and real estate can neither be sold nor rented. The freezing of assets also means prohibition of ensuring financial means to the aimed entities and persons. The provision is valid for twelve months.
